West Ham has confirmed signing of Rachel Daly of England international on a temporary deal until the end of the year.

Daly, 28, before making the move, has extended her contract with Houston Dash of the United States which would see her play for the club until 2023.

She joined the club in 2016 and was the captain in the National Women’s Soccer League’s Challenge Cup earlier this year. She was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament in the challenge.

While confirming Daly’s signing on Thursday September 3, 2020, Matt Beard, the club’s head coach, said, “I am delighted to bring Rachel to West Ham. The opportunity to have a proven England international in our squad on a short-term deal was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

“Rachel is an experienced player, proven at the top level of the game, who will fit into our squad perfectly in terms of how we play and what we expect from our squad. I am looking forward to working with her over the coming months,” she added.

Daly, who has scored three goals playing in the U.S, while expressing her excitement for joining West Ham, said, “I am very excited to join West Ham United on loan and come and play in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

“West Ham is a fantastic club with a strong squad, filled with proven internationals and talented youngsters, and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the team.”

Daly specifically mentioned that she was happy to get a chance to work with Matt Beard, the clubs head coach.

“I’ve known Matt Beard for a long time as well and it will be great to work with him in the coming months.

“I know we have two really big games to kick-off our season, starting this weekend against Tottenham, and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Daly would make her Hammers debut in London this weekend in a match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, last summer, Daly was a member of England squad and part of the Women World Cup last year as the team made it to semi final. She made five appearances playing for the England Women’s team.
