AUDF to hold ‘Hodan Nalayeh Award’ in Senegal

Africa Union Day Foundation Annual ‘Hodan Nalayeh Award’ has been scheduled to hold in Senegal.

The foundation President, Gbenga Shubair, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday June 2, 2022,

According the statement, the annual ‘Hodan Nalayeh Award’ will be launched during Daylight Africa Week.”

Shubair noted that the event will honour Hodan Nalayeh, a 43-year-old journalist killed in Somalia.

“Journalist Hodan Nalayeh, a 43-year-old, who was pregnant, was killed in an al-Shabab-claimed attack along with her husband, Farid Jama Suleiman, a year after she moved to Somalia from Canada with a mission to showcase the east African country’s rich culture and natural beauty,” Shubair said.

He added, “Our late Nalayeh will also be posthumously awarded the prestigious ‘Daylight Africa Award’ on September 9, 2022 during African Union Day celebration in Senegal.”
