NY AG shuts down Syracuse landlord over lead poisoning violations

A Syracuse landlord and his property company have been barred from owning or manging rental properties in the state.

The New York attorney’s general office announced Monday they settled their lawsuit with John Kiggins and his company, Endzone properities.

First filed in October of last year, an investigation showed that 18 children in 17 different properties have had lead poisining.

They also found that in their estimated 89 properties, at least 32 were flagged for conditions conducive to lead poisoning.

The attorney general reported that all of Endzone’s properties that have been sold off are under new management and the violations have been remedied.

The property company also has to pay $215,000 that will go toward local lead paint abatement and assistance to families affected by it.
